troop letter: a thankful soldier and troop supporter
September 12, 2009
Bob, thought you might like to hear this. A couple of weeks ago, I was approached by a guy (civilian) that wanted to organize a 9/11 motorcycle run. He asked if they could begin from our American Legion Post, and I of course agreed.
In my vest pockets (I was in leather that day) I had one of your challenge coins. I dug it out of my pocket and handed it to him. I said “this will bring you luck in this”. This morning about 50 arrived at the Post. We had a short ceremony honoring those who lost their lives that day, and those who serve today. He told me that I was right, the coin had brought him luck. It was my last, but a VERY GOOD use for the coin.
