Thank you for the wonderful care packages
Grace Family Church,
Thank you for the wonderful care packages you have sent to my unit. We
were recently in a pretty austere location in Afghanistan (without the
traditional amenities of the AAFES PX) and your boxes truly put a smile on
everyone’s face. It became the highlight of the day to see one of the
large packages addressed to me arrive; the team knew that the boxes were
for everyone. I can’t remember the last time I actually opened one of the
packages, my Soldiers are given the honor each time a box arrives. My
team has found itself relocating throughout the country and we take our
packages with us. We have a few more months in country before our tour
comes to a close and we are forever grateful for the generosity you’ve
expressed to our unit. The Holiday’s were cold but without snow in our
location and we had a traditional Army deployment Christmas party. Some
of the items you sent found their way to the table as snacks for everyone
to enjoy.
I will let you know when it is no longer practical to send us packages and
once more, I sincerely thank you for the joy you’ve brought to the lives
of my Soldiers as they enjoyed the generous things you’ve sent us in the
mail.
