troop letter: Cigars, coffee

Cigars, coffee and those drink powder mixes are always welcome
Sir,
thank you so very much for the supplies and treats you all sent. The boxes were quite heavy and my guys thought I was smuggling dead bodies into the country or something. I put the fluids on a plane going from Bagram through Camp Bastion down to the smaller FOB. I have not heard anything from them so I confirm that they made it. We have been very busy ourselves and I am just now getting around to following up on things. I did give one of the cases of NORMOSOL to the base vet here. They did not have anything like that and greatly appreciated it. Our vets are Canadian here. They are really nice folks and take good care of our working dogs. Those things went a long way towards international relations.
The cigars were a huge hit! I have the humidor in my hooch and we have a cigar after our missions all the time. We prefer the standard cigars but the NAVY corpsemen (mostly girls) liked the flavored ones. Either way it was a really nice treat. the snacks were good as well. we were able to pass those around pretty well and share the love. Our commander has issued an “eat as you get” order. this means if we can’t eat it when we get it we have to throw it away. We have had a pretty big rat problem with all the ccandy and snack lying around so I can understand why she did that. We don’t have much in the way of storage space here either. What we do have is in the form of tents and critters can get in and out pretty easy. So if you could pass the word about sending food items in small amounts only that would be great. Cigars, coffee and those drink powder mixes are always welcome and get consumed pretty regular. Little things like carabiner clips, parachute cord, rubber bands, duct tape, work gloves, batteries and toiletries are always in high demand here as well. We appreciate everything we get though and by no means want to sound ungrateful. It brings a smile to everyones face when we get a package to open and share.
Thanks again and keep in touch
