troop letter: CSM Richard

May 17, 2009

Bob,

I wanted to take a moment and thank you for all the support you have
given our troopers over the past year.

It dawned on me yesterday when I
received another shipment of boxes from you that I have not taken the
time out to say thanks. I do not open these boxes, normally our
Chaplain’s Assistant goes through them and sends these out to the more
remote locations where Soldiers are living harder and can use a little
something extra to brighten up their day and make things a bit more
comfortable. I apologize for this in a way because it partially becomes
transparent to me which inadvertently results in my failure to
acknowledge your efforts. Having said that… thank you for your
overwhelming support!

We are doing well here despite an increase in enemy activity. We are
currently trying to focus on the fight at hand as well as preparations
to return to home station back at Fort Hood. As we are winding down we
are asking Families and friends to stop sending packages this week
because we are at a point now that we may or may not receive them before
we start moving personnel towards their departure locations. If you
would like to continue supporting Soldiers, I can hand off my
replacements contact information. He is a good friend of mine and his
name is CSM Robert let me know if you would like to support him
and when he arrives I will give him your email address and introduce
you.

Thank you again for everything you have done for us. It is great to have
such fine Americans supporting our Soldiers!

CSM Richard
