troop letter: Forward Operations Base (FOB) Salerno.
March 11, 2011
We are part a big part of what happens here, we are involved in almost every facet of this operation.
My name is CPT E and I am currently deployed to
Afghanistan in the name of peace. I have been in the Army for about 18
yrs now and I have seen almost everything the Army has to offer. I have
20 soldiers in my care here at Forward Operations Base (FOB) Salerno. We
are part a big part of what happens here, we are involved in almost
every facet of this operation. I think my soldiers are doing a great
job, but sometimes they lose focus, or start to think about home. They
here the stories about the girlfriend leaving them, the wife/husband
messing up the finances back at home, the kids failing school, All the
things that happen during deployments. Yes this things happen sometimes,
but we don’t have time to worry about that, we can’t because when you
take your mind off the task at hand, someone will die. I will not lose
another soldier out here! My job out here is to protect your Sons and
Daughters from harm by any means necessary. So I found this site online
last night, and read a few stories and testimonials about the good work
you guys are doing for troops. Well I think my kids deserve to be part
of the caring. We don’t have much here to keep their minds off of home.
The PX here is terrible. There are no TVs, but they have video games.
They sell some old music but don’t have players. If you ask me anything
would be a blessing but if I had to put a list together I would send
these things:
Movies, TV/Monitors, Candies, microwave goods, any snack foods, socks,
Pocket knives, alarm clocks, coffee, hot coco mix, can cheese spread,
Ritz or Club crackers, really anything would work.
Want to I thank the people who made this site and all the others
like it. The Nations defense is very important to me and I want to get
this done and come home, but I don’t want to leave any one behind. I
will perform my appointed duty to the best of my ability, and bring
everyone home.
