troop letter: generous contribution

Rest assured everyone is very grateful

To the staff of Support Our Troops:

On behalf of the many recipients of your generous donation of candy, popcorn, cookies, and sundries THANK YOU!!!!! I’d like to especially thank Gail Johnson for a fine packing job. Everything arrived unbroken and in excellent condition. I’d also like to extend a special thanks to my good friend Rich Mcclain for putting Support Our Troops in touch with me.

The box filled with all of these goodies arrived this Monday and to my surprise I found very generous quantities of food and toiletries. I have shared part of the bounty with my office mates, who are airmen, army, members of Coalition Forces, specifically Britain and Canada, and local nationals as well as others who are in my roommate’s office. I have even donated a share of the gifts to the Chaplin for his office to dole out to local orphanages and refugee camps around the Kabul area.

Rest assured everyone is very grateful and the Support Our Troops organization received the credit for having donated the eatables and such. The popcorn will be a huge hit at our movie night which is held Friday evenings in the pool. Not literally of course. Our “office building” is actually built over a large former swimming pool and we watch movies in the basement which was the deep end and the shallow end is now a very large closet with a low ceiling. 

If you are ever in need of a recipient for future donations, you have my address. I’ll make the best of it by spreading it among the deserving, the needy, and the members of our armed services here at Camp Eggers, Kabul, Afghanistan.
