troop letter: Mary

Hi Bob, my name is Mary ****.  I’m the mother of PFC ****, Brett.  Brett and his group are out in the Maysan Province near the Iran border building FOB Garry Owens.  When they arrived there was absolutely nothing but sand but their efforts have progressed and they are in tents now, have showers and get a couple of hot meals.  However, their communications are not yet complete and Brett hasn’t been able to email you. 

He asked if I would email and tell you how extremely appreciative of your package they all were.  It’s amazing how many of the soldiers have no family or their families have no money to send them a package.  But I guess you know that since sending packages has been a mission of yours.  Anyway, Brett shared all your goodies and said to thank you and tell you that he would email when they get up and running. 

He said they especially LOVED the movies.  Since temperatures there are 120 to 130 degrees they tend to hang out in their tents when they are not working so movies are always a favorite.  They do not have a PX yet so snacks are also very appreciated.  They love their packages.  Hopefully Brett himself will be able to thank you soon.  Until then, know how appreciative they are for what you do.  I send as many as I can so I know the effort that goes into it so I also thank you.
