troop letter: popping smoke
January 13, 2010
filled with cigars, cookies, and misc. snacks
Bob,
I got this email address from PVT Jason on Orgun-E. I’m sorry it has taken me so long to write and thank you for your generosity and support. We’ve received a number of packages from you, filled with cigars, cookies, and misc. snacks. I do a fair amount of traveling over here, about 6 days a week worth, and so have developed a good number of contacts at bases throughout the area. We’ve been pushing most of the boxes you send to those fobs and cops that are hard to reach and generally have very spartan living conditions. The guys love getting mail, especially unexpected mail that all can share in. Alot of times these guys rely on care packages for the simple things that help keep them going. Razors, hand sanitizer, deodorant, snacks, tobacco, etc… We always include a few blank thank you cards in these boxes, I hope you’ve been receiving them.
We are down to less than 2 months from popping smoke and heading home. So I wanted to forward you the address of my replacement who should be on the ground here around mid Feb. I’m sure he would appreciate any and all support and care packages received:
