troop letter: received two large care packages
July 20, 2011
Many people commented on how much they appreciate the support from folks back home.
Bob, Pam and Everyone Else,
This week I received two large care packages from Support the Troops, Inc. I can’t thank you enough. The first box contained a wide variety of snacks, books, DVDs, pens, toiletries, coffee and more. I was surprised at the size of the box. Everyone in the office dug in and found something they really liked (I’m a fan of the toffee popcorn and girl scout cookies). We have a small team, but are part of a larger unit so I put the box out for everyone to enjoy. It didn’t take long for all of the items to find a home. I was very surprised today when I came back from a meeting and found another package of toffee popcorn. I put one box out in our office and one in the office next door. I’m sure that by morning all of the bags will be gone.
Many people commented on how much they appreciate the support from folks back home. I asked for hints about things they miss and would like to see if there is another box. I was a little surprised that most were just happy that people thought about them and took the effort to send anything at all. But I did come away with a few suggestions if they are
available:
- chocolate covered coffee beans
- those little individual drink mix packages (like crystal light or koolaid. Prefer sugar free type) Any flavor really. We drink lots of water and its good to get any kind of flavor in them
- bags of sunflower seeds (in the shell)
Again, thank you for thinking about us. We really appreciate your team taking the time and effort to support us.
Sincerely,
John
