troop letter: SPC Neil (OUTLAW 7N)
August 05, 2008
Mr. Williams,
On behalf of D Co 3-159th, I would like to extend the gratitude
of 139 soldiers to whom the contents of your packages will be distributed. I cannot even begin to tell you how much we appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and gifts.
This unit is currently on mission for approx. 15 months at Joint
Air Base Balad (formerly LSA Anaconda), providing attack helicopter support to the entire theater of operations. Here in Balad, we have it pretty good. We have a lot of resources available to us. However, we do have some soldiers operating fueling/arming points around the country that don’t. Soft drink mixes and easily carried treats are like currency to these troops.
The cigars and coffee were a hit. We’ll make sure to send a
photo of the unit enjoying them as we get the opportunity. Myself and our company commander are somewhat of coffee/cigar aficionados, so we can certainly appreciate being able to get decent quality products.
I’m sorry to say, moving the CD’s and DVD’s was a bit difficult.
The digital age is finally hitting over here. But, like I said, baked
treats, chips, drink mixes and the like are precious to these kids. As far as a wish list however, that will have to wait until I can get some words in from the rest of the company. All I can say is please by all means continue to send what you can, when you can, if you can. These soldiers, including myself, are grateful and exceptionally proud knowing that we have the support of patriots like yourself and your associates.
Once again, from my commander, my 1SG, myself and
every sergeant and private in the Outlaws, thank you for keeping us in mind.
Sincerely,
SPC Neil (OUTLAW 7N)
