troop letter: Susan

March 25, 2009

I am a Department of the Army Civilian deployed to the Southwest Asia Theater.

I am located on Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.  Even though I am not a soldier, I have deployed three other times in support of the Global War on Terrorism.  I have been in Kuwait in 2003, 2004, 2005 and now 2008.  My first three deployments were to the S1 (personnel) section of Army Materiel Command’s Logistics Support Element Southwest Asia (AMC LSE SWA) where I in and out-processed all AMC soldiers, civilians and contractors through this entry point into the full theater (Iraq/Afghanistan/Qatar).  This deployment I am the Administrative Support Specialist for the Command Group of the **** Army Field Support Brigade that is subordinate to the AMC SWA CG.

I want you to know how grateful we all are for your packages you send over here.  This includes all the bread mixes, raisins, cinnamon, etc.  All our personnel are so grateful for this home type cooking.  Our Commander, Command Sergeant Major, XO, and all others love their trips down from Afghanistan just to get some homemade bread.  Your packages give all of us - soldiers, DA civilians, and DA contractors a little taste of home while here.  The twelve hour days, seven days a week get long and tedious, but with your packages that are arriving frequently, we all get a wonderful break.

We all want to thank you and your assistants for your kindness and your thoughts and prayers you send with each package!

May you all have a blessed and enjoyable week!

Again, thanks!

Susan
