troop letter: Taliban got his leg
November 14, 2011
he and his squad managed to arrange a meeting with several hundred Taliban with ALLAH “EARLY
Your donations came in “right on time” Friday morning. The Humidors/flags/cigars were a huge hit for the wounded warriors. In fact, the young Sgt “Justin” (leg amputee due to IED on a mountain top in Afghanistan, 22 yrs old) I played with was absolutely humbled by your gifts and thoroughly enjoyed the cigars...along with hundreds of other. I listened to Justin’s stories for 7 hours on Friday, tears and all, and the fact that he was so humble was simply amazing. He was more appreciative for what America has done for him..than what he has done for our country. I am always amazed at these young men/women who think nothing of putting their lives on the line for all of us...It’s one thing to have a son/daughter that grows up and becomes a productive member of society, but to have one that serves in today’s environment can only be captured in the word “Hero”. I am so very proud of Justin and it was a huge honor to spend some time with him. It takes one Justin to make us all realize how wonderful we have it; but it takes the Bob’s, Rusty’s, and a cast of thousands to tell our young troops “Thank You”.
Justin will soon be a medically retired veteran - someone who, at one point wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount of “up to and including his life.” There are way too many people in this country who no longer understand this, but you guys do and God Bless you Bob & Rusty.
BTW: Justin ensured me that even though the Taliban got his leg; he and his squad managed to arrange a meeting with several hundred Taliban with ALLAH “EARLY”!
