troop letter: THANK YOU!!

September 12, 2011

THANK YOU!!

Days are long but we make the best out of it.

First of all on behalf of my entire unit, Thank You for your time and generosity for the numerous packages you have sent to my unit.  The items came at critical time in our deployment since we were running short and/or lacking many of the necessities we often take for granted when we are home.  We are so fortunate to have great Americans back home like all of you, who are supporting us. Again, the men and women here wanted me to say thank you as they are all amazed that people would help out a group of strangers.

To give you an update, the items arrived with great timing.  A unit rolled in with 2500 personnel followed by 500 troops two weeks later, who cleaned out the PX (a store similar to a Walmart) of the basic necessities.  Your generous shipment of supplies allowed us to share the wealth with some of the 82nd Airborne soldiers, who were also having the same challenges with basic supplies.  They were also grateful, amazed with all the items and pass along their thanks for your contribution to the cause.

Our tough boxes are on their way with our gear and the rest of the supplies we packed in June. We are working hard to get things shipped out of Iraq to achieve the withdrawal deadline.  Days are long but we make the best out of it.  For me personally, I talk to my wife and mother every other day, if not every day so communications are good, thank God… one of the benefits of being a part of a support unit.

We cannot thank you all enough for your kindness.  Keep the home fires burning help us fight the good fight.  From all of us with 227 Quarter Master(GS)/101st Sustainment Brigade and the 82nd Airborne. THANK YOU!!

“I think I’m finally settled in. It’s a small base. Since arriving, I’ve seen Brits,…
