troop letter: Your box arrived today

Christmas trees

Dear Bob,

Greetings from Camp Liberty, Iraq. Bob, my parents recently talked to you
and gave you my address. I’m Chaplain Hughes and my folks are Reg and Sharon
who live there in Brooksville.

Your box arrived today and you should have seen the smiles on the guys faces
as I handed out all the goodies inside. You and your volunteers made their
day. In the midst of a pretty hectic schedule, night and day missions and
DFAC food, the treats, coffee and toiletries from home were a huge morale
boost for everyone from our Battalion Commander to our guys on guard duty.

Thank you from the bottom of this Chaplain’s heart. What an encouragement to
receive such a gift.

Bob, I’d like to get around 12 of these same boxes if I could in the next
few weeks. With the holidays just around the corner, our team here plans on
having Christmas trees for all the Battery offices (we’re field artillery,
really “infantillery”) and I’ll wrap all the things you send and place them
with our guys names under the trees, so they will all have something to open
on Christmas morning or evening based on their patrol schedule.

The guys especially need small toiletry items to carry out on their one and
two day patrols, along with all the “treats”/”sweets” you can send.
